"Harriet Jacobs" a production in Massachusetts with Rhode Islanders...

This looks wonderful!

Harriet Jacobs

A collaboration between Underground Railway Theater and The Providence Black Repertory Company, this East Coast Premiere by Lydia R. Diamond brings Harriet Jacobs' astonishing true story, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, to the stage. This "immensely sophisticated" play about human oppression, and how certain people rise above it, allows Jacobs to reach out to us from her own era and compel us to look at our history as if for the first time in her unsparing yet beautifully poetic coming-of-age story.
