Hurray for the Providence Community Library!

Independence has reached the nine neighborhood branches of Providence, Rhode Island.

Two days ago, Providence Community Library was officially launched with rainstorms and parties, and many celebrations.

The Providence Public Library (PPL) is now solely responsible for the Main (downtown) building and all of its contents, and oddly, still owns most of the buildings.

Not long ago, they (the PPL) proposed eliminating 5 of the branches...

I am enormously grateful to the many, many people who have worked diligently and creatively to maintain all of the neighborhood services.
