AIDS, Frank Jump & the Ninjanurse

I think it's been a year ( or perhaps 2) since I was searching the internet for blogs touching on AIDS in ways that might touch Rhode Island, and I found a New Yorker's blog,

Fading Ad Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

"vintage mural ads and other signage" !!! Oh, I have met dozens of RIers http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif(ok, many, like myself adopted RIers) who could spend hours studying this kind of thing.

Frank, the blogger, and I became facebook friends, and I am happy to share http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifthat he has book out! Fading Ads of New York City and there is a wonderful piece in The New York Times about it !

I hope these links work.....

The Ninjanurse has a post in Kmareka about AIDS.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

The Ninjanurse is a true Rhode Islander, although she doesn't have the strong accent so many project. She is a tremendous writer and friend and nurse, and I have been honored to share a workplace with her.

The recent column about Blossom S. Kirschenbaum is worth reading, as are all of her posts.

AIDS is still here and schools are still silencing lessons about condoms.

I would rather we devoted resources to HIV research than to chemical weaponry.

Remembering Rhode Island's Robert Peabody -- an important post from Cranston's Kmareka

It is heartbreaking and overwhelming to contemplate what is happening in Japan and so many places right now...

I am Grateful for the testimonies of Survivors and Artists and Veterans and, yes, Long-haired Hippies and short-haired and bald ones, too.

Here is a little essay about a man whose life was taken due to a nuclear accident.

If this link does not work, please let me know, via a comment here or facebook or hey, even a phone call or email....Thank you !

I encourage people to read the comments afterwards.

There will be a vigil, No More Nuclear Victims, today in Providence.

Thank You Ninja Nurse, Democommie And Patient Friends

I have been a deeply dormant blogger, but the encouragement of the NinjaNurse, and Democommie and the famous bloggers of Newport and Other Mysterious Settings is waking me from the slumber.

This past Saturday at a wonderful Halloween event in my neighborhood, I had the great fortune to see Alex Svoboda, my friend whose knee was so harmed by the authorities in Pawtucket and who works joyfully with the Wobblies. Incredibly there are still charges pending against her ( and one or two others ).

Grace Paley's Birthday is approaching.

Rhett Jones' spirit is, I'm sure, following this Obama Administration and football and theatre and Civil Rights.

Marsha Z. West is Dancing and somewhere laughing about silly people blogging in her Memory.

And Harold Rogovin? Somewhere making jokes in Yiddish and reflecting on Sacco and Vanzetti.

Nomi goofs again.

Oy vey: as a new blogger, I didn't check the comment settings to ensure access. Ninjanurse sent me an email (msnomir@gmail.com) letting me know of my error.

I want comments. Only if spam, et cet. were a problem would I need to limit them!

Please read ninjanurse's eloquent, compassionate and wise posts at kmareka (link is below.)

I think the problem is fixed. Please send me comments, however brief, so we'll know for sure!
