Eugene V. Debs: Quote about Moses -- Relevant to Rhode Islanders and Everyone..

Eugene Debs did not say this at a Seder, as far as I know:

“Too long have the workers of the world waited for some Moses to lead them out of bondage. I would not lead you out if I could; for if you could be led out, you could be led back again. I would have you make up your minds there is nothing that you cannot do for yourselves.”

From an address on Industrial Unionism delivered at Grand Central Palace. New York City, Dec. 18,1905.

The Eugene V. Debs Foundation is keeping his spirit alive...

What about college tuition bondage at Providence College? I was shocked to learn Providence College is raising tuition $5000 for next year -- 2010 - 2011 academic year. The tuition rate hike is for freshman only so sophomores, juniors and seniors will pay $5000 less for the same education. A hike of $5000 for Providence College incoming freshman will make tuition out of reach for many and will create a situation where only the wealthy will be able to attend. .... The rate hike was not made known when students applied. .... The college should reimburse the application fee to students for whom the new rate structure makes a Providence College education out of reach. ... Who ever heard of a $5000 tuition rate hike in a single year, much less for only the incoming freshmen. It's bizarre.
